When this picture was taken I had an infant, I had just realized that my marriage was failing, I had cut my maternity leave short and was bitter and angry because I had dreams I wanted to pursue. I returned to working in a helping profession and I could barely help myself. But each day I had to try to find this face. This “happy face” to show up and help others. I had to try to push my stuff deep inside to show up as my best self for the people I served. But I wasn’t my best self. I was breaking. I was there but never truly showing up. It is impossible to truly take care of others if we don’t take care of ourselves!
Right now the world is super messy but many of us are trying to push through to take care of others. But we need to remember the importance of taking care of ourselves.
We need to remember that it is ok to fall apart right now. It is ok to be sad, angry, and afraid. It is ok to take time to tune in to exactly how we are feeling. It is ok to push harder. It is ok to rest. It is ok for us to figure out exactly what we need. It is also ok to ask for help!
If you are just surviving right now that is ok. This is an incredibly difficult time. But if you want more. If you want to feel like you are truly living then I encourage you to connect with me! Let’s chat about how you can get out of survival mode and feel accomplished and balanced!
